I spent years teaching and studying education, learning, and curriculum. I learned how to do a formal needs analysis, how to use a human performance technology model, and how to apply instructional design principles to encourage learning throughout my doctoral program and research.
However, when I got into my first real instructional design role, I realized that theory was a lot different than practice. Many times, I found myself surrounded by others who never learned any theory to back up their practice - accidental instructional designers and L&D leaders. When I would propose solutions to performance problems, I was often met with, "This is the way we've always done it" or "If it's not broke, don't fix it."
But it was broken. It needed to be fixed.
You see, a beautiful thing happens when you transform from an accidental L&D professional to an intentional one. When you create strategy and process and back that up with a plan for success, you can stop the constant battle to prove learning and development's worth in your organization. You'll see learning culture improve, leadership and psychological safety will improve, and retention will improve too.
I'm here to help with that. Combining theory with practice and years of experience dealing with both naysayers and people who were willing but just not sure how to approach their learning and performance problems, I can help you improve the learning culture of your organization.
